Pilgrimage to the Basilica in Washington DC

Pilgrimage to the Basilica in Washington DC

Dear Parishioners,

On Saturday October 1st in honor of Mary, Mother of Mercy the Diocese of Camden will have a pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C.  As in the past, there will be opportunities throughout the day to prayerfully explore the Basilica and learn about its rich history.  There is a specially designated Holy Door for the Jubilee Year of Mercy which pilgrims are invited to pass through.  The Sacrament of Penance will be offered in the morning and the entire day will be comprised of Sacred Music, concert, the Holy Rosary, and procession of banners.  We are invited to participate brining a banner with our parish name on it or our patrons, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

The highlight and conclusion of the Pilgrimage will be the celebration of Mass in the Great Upper Church at which Bishop Sullivan will be the main celebrant.  Pilgrims may begin arriving from 9:30am and the departure time will be after Mass concludes at 4pm.

If you are interested in going on the pilgrimage please contact the parish office.  Depending on the amount of persons interested we will either get our own bus transportation or team up with St. Charles Borromeo.  Approximate cost will range between $35.00 to $40.00 depending on how many persons we can secure for the bus; the bus can carry 54 passengers.  Please call the office and let us know if you will be going.

In Christ Jesus,

Fr. John P. Picinic
