Annual SVDP Shoebox Drive Again this year the St. Vincent de Paul Society is asking for your help to provide some comfort and a brighter day to some of our area’s homeless, through our parish “Shoebox” drives. Next weekend, October 15-16, we ask that every family who can, take a box home with them and fill it with personal items, such as bar soap, deodorant, wash clothes, toothpaste, playing cards, etc. These may seem like such simple everyday items to us that we take them for granted, however these are often unaffordable luxuries for those who live on the streets. The empty shoe boxes and a list of suggested items can be picked up from a table at the back of the church after each of the Masses and returned to the same location the weekend of October 22-23 The filled shoeboxes will then be distributed to the homeless through area soup kitchens .
